Rustic California

The home’s original condition was a sprawling 4000 square foot Walnut Creek, California “contractor’s special”. In fact, a contractor built it for his family in the early 90’s. What makes this project special is that we refreshed the kitchen while keeping all of the cabinetry. The cabinets, floors, stairs, etc were a sea of oak and brick. KMD proposed a design to keep what was “good” by making cosmetic changes such as paint/stain for the cabinets and replace the floor/backsplash/countertop to achieve a fresher look while also saving the landfill. The powder room was completely remodeled with graphic punch and a nice balance of masculine/feminine. Everything is family friendly with mix of custom, antique, and retail with lots of bespoke finishes while also well-wearing with two little girls in residence.
